Needing a strong effort to avoid falling behind 2-0 in their Interior Conference Finals series against the Salmon Arm SilverBacks, the Vernon Vipers scored a trio of third period goals to secure a 5-1 win.
After Chris Crowell and Mike Collins had put the home team up by a pair mid-way through the first, Salmon Arm's Keenan Desmet drew his team back within a goal. After a scoreless second period, James Kerr gave the Vipers a two-goal cushion before Connor Jones scored back-to-back goals to salt away the victory.
Vernon's Andrew Hammond turned aside 19 shots for the win while SilverBacks netminder Bryan Gillis stopped 26 in a losing cause.
The series now returns to Salmon Arm tied 1-1 with Game Three slated for Tuesday night at 7:30 PM from the Sunwave Centre.
