It didn't take long for Victoria Grizzlies graduate Jordie Benn to get his first shot in professional hockey. Benn, who was one of the BC Hockey League's premier defencemen in his final season of junior hockey, has signed on with AHL's Manitoba Moose – the top minor league affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
A 47-point scorer and All-Star Game starter in 2007/08, Benn had previously been slated to attend the University of Alaska-Fairbanks before the offer came in from the Moose.
Just a week ago, Benn's brother Jamie – another Grizzlies alumnus – inked a deal with the Dallas Stars.
