Kings’ forward Oakes commits to Quinnipiac

Powell River, BC – October 15, 2008 – The Kings are proud to announce that forward Darcy Oakes has committed to attend NCAA Division I Quinnipiac University for the 2009/10 season.

Oakes joined the Kings last season and quickly became a key component of Powell River's powerful offense. Darcy is recognized through out the BCHL for his outstanding and creative play and he currently leads the league in points.

“We're elated as Darcy is very deserving of this,” Kings' head coach and general manager Kent Lewis says. “Since October of last year he's been one of the most skilled players in the league putting up consistent numbers. We're proud of him and look forward to having him lead us to a great year.”

Oakes will be joining current linemate Brooks Robinson in Hamden, Connecticut to play under Bobcats head coach Rand Pecknold. Darcy looks forward to playing his game while pursuing a 4-year business degree.

Congratulations Darcy on this great achievement! If you would like more information, please contact Elise Vos, Kings Marketing Manager at (604) 485-7550 x2.
