Powell River Kings forward Darcy Oakes has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending March 7th, the league announced Monday.
After a first round bye, Oakes helped the Kings jump out a 2-0 series lead in their Mainland Division Finals matchup against the Surrey Eagles. In a pair of weekend games, the 20-year old scored four goals and tallied eight points.
Oakes led the BCHL in scoring during the regular season with 99 points.
On Friday, he assisted on a first period goal by Erik Vos and scored two of his own in the third to wrap up a 4-1 victory over the Eagles.
One night later, Oakes scored twice and added three assists in a 10-0 win.
The Eagles and Kings resume their second round series on Tuesday night at the South Surrey Arena.
