It’s best to leave a situation better than you found it but that will be a challenge for Powell River Kings graduating captain Jake Kohlhauser when he gets to Grant MacEwan University and the Griffins hockey program.
That’s because the team is coming off a championship season in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAC).
The Griffins defeated their rivals from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in the ACAC final March 19 to claim their first league title since 2004.
Kohlhauser spent two BCHL seasons with the Kings and was captain this past season. A steady presence in his own zone, the 6-foot-1, 198-pound blueliner posted five goals and 19 assists in 92 BCHL games.
Grant MacEwan University is located in Edmonton so it will be a return home for Kohlhauser who is from nearby St. Albert.
Other teams in the ACAC include the Southern Alberta Institute of Technolody (SAIT), Portage College, Augustana College, Briercrest, Red Deer College and Concordia.
