Powell River Kings goalie Derek Krall has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 18, the league announced Monday.
Krall, an affiliate goalie who has spent the majority of this season with the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s Nanaimo Buccaneers, made three starts for Powell River and earned the win in each of them. He made 25 saves and was 3rd Star in a 4-1 win over Alberni Valley and followed that with 46 saves and a 1st Star nod in a 2-1 win over Vernon. The Crofton, B.C. product was again 1st Star in his final outing of the week, a 7-1 victory over Chilliwack where he made 39 saves.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound netminder improved his record to 3-1 on the season. He posted a save percentage of .973 on the weekend and a 1.00 goals-against average.
