Fresh off the January National Collegiate Hockey Conference's player of the month award, Joey Laleggia is getting started on his case for the February award.
The Penticton Vees alum and Burnaby, BC native was named the conference's player of the week for his continued strong play on the University of Denver blueline.
Laleggia assisted twice in a 3-0 win over state-rival Colorado College. The Edmonton Oilers 2012 fifth-round draft choice fired a shot from the point that was deflected home by teammate and fellow BCHL alum Danton Heinen for the game-winner.
The senior defenceman now has nine goals and 15 assists on the season. His 24 points puts him third in team scoring.
In two seasons with the Vees, Laleggia scored 33 goals and 114 assists for 147 points in 114 career games over two seasons.
