The British Columbia Hockey League's Langley Chiefs are pleased to announce that goaltender Mark Friesen has committed to the State University of New York at Fredonia for the 2010/11 NCAA Division III hockey season. The 20-year old recently completed his junior hockey career in Langley after being acquired from the Calgary Royals in early December. Friesen came to the Chiefs and immediately provided a stable presence in net for the young hockey club. He finished the season with a record of 14-6-1, a 2.96 goals-against average and .906 save-percentage. “Friesen was solid for us all year,” says Chiefs Associate Coach and Associate General Manager Barry Wolff. “He was a big reason why we got on that roll (12 wins in a row) that helped turn our season around.” The Fredonia Blue Devils expect Mark to come in and contribute as early as next year. Friesen becomes the 11th Chiefs player to commit to a college or university this season, a new high for the team since its move to Langley. behalf of the entire Langley Chiefs organization we would like to congratulate Mark on this accomplishment and thank him for his efforts while with the Chiefs.
