Luca Leone took very well to the black and gold sweater of the Coquitlam Express last season, particularly with the ‘C’ sewn on the chest.
But he’ll be sporting navy with red and white trim next season as a new member of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
The Vancouver product posted 14 goals and 22 assists in 49 games last season and finished up his BCHL career with 62 point in 112 games. He also made stops in the Western Hockey League with Vancouver and Swift Current as well as a stint in Italy with a club in Milan. Now, he’ll be hoping Toronto is his home for the next five seasons.
The Varsity Blues compete in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West Division along with Laurier, Brock, Windsor, Guelph, Ryerson, York, Lakehead, Waterloo and Western. U of T’s roster this past season featured a pair of former BCHLers in goalie Andrew Hunt and defenceman Evan McEachern.
