Looysen signs pact to Brock

LooysenVictoria Grizzlies forward Nathan Looysen has played most of his Junior hockey close to his Vancouver Island hometown of Saanich but he’ll be headed across Canada to Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont. to play for the Badgers starting next season.

This season, Looysen has posted 19 goals and 28 assists for 47 points in 52 games after leading the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) in scoring a season ago with the Victoria Cougars.

Prior to that, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward had stints with the VIJHL’s Peninsula Panthers and the South Island Thunderbirds of the BC Major Midget League. Looysen also had previous BCHL appearances with Victoria and Cowichan prior to this season.

At Brock, Looysen will join a USports (former CIS) program that competes in the Ontario University Athletics West Division against schools such as York, Ryerson, Laurier, Guelph and Windsor.

Other BCHL alums on the Badgers current roster are Braden Pears, Skylar Pacheco, Alex Brooks-Potts and Mitch Nardi.
