Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Mitch MacMillan continued to increase his lead atop the British Columbia Hockey League's goal-scoring column, netting four in his team's 10-2 victory over the Cowichan Valley Capitals at the Island Savings Centre on Monday evening.
MacMillan scored two in a first period that saw the Bulldogs take a 4-2 lead, and the 20-year old completed the hat trick midway through the second period. Tye Lewis continued to impress since joining Alberni Valley in a late-November trade, scoring a pair and adding two assists. David Dziurzynski, Johnny Rogic, Warren Muir and Trent Dorais added single markers.
The Bulldogs scored a trio of second period goals and added three more in the final period to salt away the win. Frank Slubowski picked up the victory in goal, stopping 24 of the 26 shots sent his way.
Nick Anderson and Colten Derickson replied for the Capitals, who saw Alexandre Peck and Andrew Dyson split the netminding duties.
The Capitals won't have to wait long for the opportunity to avenge Monday night's loss, as the clubs are scheduled to face off again at the Weyerhaeuser Arena in Port Alberni at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
