MacMillan scores a pair but Clippers top Alberni in OT

Recent acquisition Andy Smith paid immediate dividends for the Nanaimo Clippers, as they forward scored the overtime winner to pace the Clips past the Alberni Valley Bulldogs by a 4-3 score.

Smith's goal ruined a Bulldogs' third period comeback that was capped by Ryan Corbeill with just over a minute remaining in regulation. Mitch MacMillans extended his lead amongst Coastal Conference goal scorers with a pair on the loss, while Kevin Ross picked up a pair of assists.

Kyle Kramer put Nanaimo on the board with a shorthanded marker in the first period. The Clippers followed with a trio of power-play goals, the first two scored by Luc Olivier Blain and Colton Cyr as a prelude to Smith's OT blast.

Loic Boivin was the busier of the two netminders on the night, turning aside 35 shots for the win. Alberni Valley's Frank Slubowski allowed four goals on 20 shots in a losing effort.

Both teams are now idle until Friday when they resume their Vancouver Island rivalry at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo.
