Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week
Ajeet Gundarah – Freshman – Sacred Heart University (Langley/Surrey)
Gundarah posted two wins last week, making 54 saves total. On Tuesday, he stopped 36 of 38 shots (.947 save percentage) to lead the Pioneers to a 3-2 victory at AIC. Then on Saturday, Gundarah stopped all 18 shots he faced against Bentley to earn his third shutout win of the season. In total, the Richmond, B.C. native turned aside 54 of 56 shots, good for a save percentage of .964 and goals-against average of 1.00. Gundarah is now up to 14 wins on the season, which is good for fourth among Atlantic Hockey netminders. On the season, the rookie leads Atlantic Hockey with a 1.93 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.
Gundarah played three seasons in the BCHL from 2021 to 2024, the first two with the Langley Rivermen and the third with the Surrey Eagles. In his final season, he led the league with a .931 save percentage, had the second-best goals-against average at 2.14 and helped guide the Eagles to their first Fred Page Cup championship since 2013. Gundarah was rewarded with the Michael Garteig Trophy as the league’s Top Goaltender.
Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week
Ethan David (G) – Freshman – Rochester Institute of Technology (Vernon Vipers)
David led the Tigers to two wins over the weekend thanks to a pair of strong efforts between the pipes. On Friday, he turned aside 29 of 30 shot attempts to give RIT a 3-2 win over Mercyhurst. David then made 26 saves in Saturday’s 6-3 victory. In total, the first-year netminder made 55 saves on 60 shots over the weekend, which was good for a .917 save percentage and 2.50 goals-against average.
The 21-year-old spent three seasons with the Vernon Vipers from 2021 to 2024, finishing his BCHL career with a 44-29-7 record, a .911 save percentage, a 2.82 goals-against average and 10 shutouts.
ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week
Ethan Langenegger – Graduate – Clarkson University (Salmon Arm Silverbacks)
Langenegger clinched two road victories against Cornell and Colgate last week, which secured a first-round bye for the Golden Knights in the ECAC Hockey Championship. He recorded a save percentage of .933, amassing 56 combined saves across both wins.
The Kamloops, B.C. product played two seasons with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks from 2018 to 2020, appearing in 80 games. In his final year with the team, he posted a record of 23-15-3, a .908 save percentage, a 2.79 goals-against average and three shutouts.
CCHA Defenceman of the Week
Isa Parekh – Freshman – Bemidji State University (Nanaimo Clippers)
Parekh helped the Beavers take five of six points from their weekend series with Bowling Green, dishing out two assists and posting a plus-three rating. On Friday, he assisted on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 Beavers victory, before setting up the tying goal with 11 seconds left in regulation in a 2-1 overtime win on Saturday. For the week, he collected two shots on goal and two blocks defensively.
The Toronto, Ont. product played the 2023-24 campaign with the Nanaimo Clippers, putting up 38 points in 52 games, finishing in a tie for fourth in points among all BCHL defencemen.
Hockey East Rookie of the Week
Logan Sawyer (F) – Freshman – Providence College (Brooks Bandits)
Sawyer scored the game-winning goal with 2:53 remaining in regulation in Providence’s 4-2 win over UMass-Lowell on Saturday. He finished the night with four shots on goal and a plus-one rating.
The 18-year-old from Orangeville, Ont. spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Brooks Bandits where he put up 19 points in 20 regular-season BCHL games. He stepped his game up even more in the postseason, leading the Alberta Division in scoring with 15 points in 12 playoff contests and guiding his team to the Alberta Cup, as well as a Rocky Mountain Challenge victory. Following the season, Sawyer was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
