NCAA Roundup: Nov. 28

In this week’s NCAA Roundup, presented by CWENCH Hydration, four BCHL alumni from three different conferences were recognized with weekly awards.

CCHA Rookie of the Week

Isa Parekh (D) – Freshman – Bemidji State University (Nanaimo Clippers)

Parekh produced two points last week on a goal and an assist from the blueline, helping Bemidji State to a five-point weekend against St. Thomas. He was a plus-one over two games with three shots on goal and two blocks at the defensive end. On Friday, he netted a power-play goal in a 2-2 tie with the Tommies. He then setup the Beavers tying goal in an eventual 2-1 win on Saturday.

The Toronto, Ont. product played the 2023-24 campaign with the Nanaimo Clippers, putting up 38 points in 52 games, finishing in a tie for fourth in points among all BCHL defencemen.

Atlantic Hockey Defenceman of the Week

Sam Duerr – Senior – Bentley University (Vernon Vipers)

Duerr helped lead Bentley to a sweep over Air Force last weekend. He scored the game-winning goal on Saturday, finding the back of the net at 6:46 of the second period. It was his fouth goal of the season and his second game-winner. In total, Duerr was on the ice for three of Bentley’s four goals on the weekend, finishing the series with a team-best plus-three rating, while helping keep the Air Force offence off the scoreboard.

The 2002-born defender played the COVID-shortened pod season for the Vernon Vipers in 2020-21. In 16 games, he put up a goal and three assists.

ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week

Brett Chorske – Senior – Colgate University (Wenatchee Wild)

Chorske recorded two goals in the Raiders two wins over the weekend. The 2001-born forward also recorded a plus-two rating and continues to lead the Raiders in goals (eight) and points (14).

Chorske played the 2018-19 campaign with the Wenatchee Wild, finishing in a tie for second in team scoring with 39 points in 58 games.

ECAC Rookie of the Week

Charlie Gollob (F) – Freshman – Brown University (Victoria Grizzlies)

Gollob scored his first two career goals against Clarkson and St. Lawrence, including the game-winner on Friday night with 0.5 seconds left in regulation. The 20-year-old from Toronto, Ont. helped lead the Bears to their first weekend sweep in the North Country since 2004.

Gollob played for the Victoria Grizzlies in 2023-24 and posted 15 goals, 23 assists and 38 points in 53 regular-season games. He added another 10 points in 11 postseason contests, finishing third in team playoff scoring.
