Penticton Vees forward Jackson Niedermayer has been named the Subway BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 5.

The 18-year-old had five goals and one assist in Penticton’s three games last week, including his first-career BCHL hat trick.

After going pointless in the Vees’ New Years Day win over the Vernon Vipers, Niedermayer caught fire on Friday against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, scoring twice in his team’s 5-2 win. The following night, he notched a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, and added an assist as Penticton cruised to an 8-4 victory over the Victoria Grizzlies. He was named the game’s first star.

The Arizona State commit is up to 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points in 40 games this season, already more than five times as many points as he registered all of last year.
