Oliver off to Lake State for 2018-19

Alberni Valley Bulldogs defenceman Mitchell Oliver has committed to play for the Lake Superior State University Lakers for the 2018-19 season.

After playing for the Vernon Vipers for three seasons, Oliver joined Alberni Valley this year and became a key contributor from the blueline, finishing tied for first in goals by defencemen with 12 and tied for eighth in points with 39. The 20-year-old finishes his BCHL career having posted 78 points in 171 regular-season games.

Lake Superior State plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) with Alabama Huntsville, Alaska Anchorage, Alaska, Bemidji State, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Michigan Tech, Michigan State and Northern Michigan.

The Lakers current roster features a number of former BCHL players, including Ryan Renz, Tyler Anderson, Diego Cuglietta, Alexandro Ambrosio, Brayden Gelsinger, Kyle Chatham, Jake Hand, Bryan Basilico, Gage Torrel and team captain Aidan Wright.

Prince George Spruce Kings forward Dustin Manz is the only other current BCHL player committed to play for Lake Superior State next season.
