Park’s stellar weekend earns him BCHLPOW

Wenatchee Wild goalie Austin Park has been named BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 29, the league announced Monday.

Park had an outstanding opening weekend at the Doyle Cup, backstopping the Wild to back-to-back victories against Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) champions the Spruce Grove Saints.

In two games, the Highland Ranch, Colo. native made 56 saves on 58 shots which was good enough for a 0.966 save percentage and a 0.952 goals-against average. Park was perfect in Game 2, stopping all 31 shots he faced to get the shutout and earn 1st star on the night. He was also named 2nd star in Game 1.

The Doyle Cup series now switches to Spruce Grove for the remainder of the series. Game 3 is Tuesday night where the Wild will look to take a 3-0 series lead.
