Penticton’s Denver Manderson named BCHL POW

Penticton Vees forward Denver Manderson has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending November 23rd, the league announced Monday.

Manderson scored once and added seven assists in three games last week, highlighted by a four-point performance in an 8-2 home ice win over the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday. That night, the Fergus, Ontario native was named the game's first star.

The Vees' captain also contributed a pair of two-assist efforts, first in a 2-0 win over Merritt and later in a 4-3 overtime loss to Vernon. Penticton picked up five of a possible six points last week and currently sits fourth in the BCHL's Interior Conference.

Manderson has now tallied six goals and 19 assists in 13 games since returning to the Vees from the OHL's Kitchener Rangers in October. The 19-year old was a key to the team's Fred Page Cup Championship last season, when he scored 19 points in 15 postseason games.

Penticton returns to action on Wednesday when they host the Cowichan Valley Capitals at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
