Rose set to play for Bowling Green in 2019-20

Victoria Grizzlies goaltender Zachary Rose has committed to play for the Bowling Green State University Falcons for the 2019-20 season.

In his rookie season in the BCHL, Rose finished the year with a 16-13-1 record and backstopped the Grizzlies to an Island Division title. The 6-foot tall, 180-pound keeper finished the season with the seventh-best save percentage in the league at .918 and also added two shutouts.

The native of Paradise, N.F. also won a gold medal for Team Canada West at the 2017 World Junior A Challenge in December. He finished the tournament with an impressive .942 save percentage and a 1.59 goals-against average in five games.

Bowling Green plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) in the NCAA’s Division I. The Falcons current roster includes former BCHL players Jakob Reichert and team captain Mitchell McLain who both played for the Langley Rivermen.

Bowling Green recently lost in the WCHA semifinals against Northern Michigan.

Langley Rivermen forward Trevor St. Jean and Surrey Eagles forward Chase Danol are the only other two current BCHLers committed to the Falcons.
