Schulting commits to UML

At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds with two years of Junior hockey eligibility left, Coquitlam Express defenceman Jordan Schulting presents a prospect profile that UMass-Lowell (UML) couldn’t ignore.

Schulting has committed to UML for the 2019-20 season meaning he’ll get another year of BCHL seasoning before heading off to the NCAA for college hockey.

The native of Penticton has seven goals and 18 assists in 46 games this season, good enough for second in scoring among Express defencemen.

At UML, Schulting will join a River Hawks program that competes in the NCAA’s Hockey East conference along with Providence, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Boston University, Northeastern, Boston College, Connecticut and Merrimack.

BCHL graduates on the River Hawks roster this season are Chris Forney, Chris Schutz, Connor Sodergren and Sean Cleary. Currently, there are two other BCHL players committed to UML for coming seasons in Trail’s Seth Barton and Trevor Zins.
