Shaw BCHL Playoff Recap: Apr. 3

Owen Say stopped 30 of 32 shots and defenceman Tucker Hartmann potted a pair of goals as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks topped the Wenatchee Wild 6-2 in Game 2 of their first-round series to take a 2-0 lead heading back to Wenatchee for Game 3.

The Silverbacks jumped all over the Wild in this one. Owen Beckner and Zack Smith scored first-period goals and Noah Serdachny, Simon Tassy and Hartmann piled on in the middle frame to make it 5-0. Wenatchee did not go away quietly though. Cade Stibbe scored two goals just six seconds apart later in the period to make it 5-2 at intermission. That score would hold up until Hartmann put the puck into the empty net late to finish the scoring.

The Wild outshot the ‘Backs 32-25 in this one, but had trouble beating Say who was named the first star of the game.

After going down 2-0 in the series, Wenatchee has a chance to rebound at home in Game 3 on Tuesday night.
