Kai Daniells and Jake Hewitt had four points each, Brody Waters notched a goal and two assists and Shane Shelest made 19 saves as the Nanaimo Clippers won their second consecutive game to take a 3-2 series lead over the Langley Rivermen. Daniells scored the game’s first goal on a first-period power play, but Reilley Kotai replied for the Rivermen with his first of the postseason to tie things up at intermission. Waters and Hewitt each scored in the middle frame, then Michael Craig stretched the Clippers lead to three with a third period tally. The two teams exchanged goals after that to make it a 5-2 final. Nanaimo has a chance to end the series on the road in Game 5 on Saturday night.
Surrey Eagles – 8
Powell River Kings – 2
With just a one-goal lead heading into the third, the Surrey Eagles went off for five straight in the final frame, extending the lead to six and making it an 8-2 final to win Game 5 and advance to the second round. Ryden Evers and Tate Taylor each had a pair of goals, while Jake Bongo and Zachary Wagnon each had three-point nights. Ryder Ringor and Sam Schoenfeld scored for Powell River in the loss. Surrey becomes the second Coastal Conference team to move on to Round 2, joining the Alberni Valley Bulldogs who advanced last night.
