Shortridge earns weekly honours with Bobcats

Shortridge-AndrewVernon Vipers alum Andrew Shortridge didn’t see a whole lot of action the first three months of his NCAA career with Quinnipiac University.

But he’s making up for lost time now as he’s started 12 of the team’s last 14 games and his most recent work, a pair of wins over Yale and Brown, earned him the ECAC Hockey rookie of the week recognition.

Shortridge made 19 stops in a 3-2 win over Yale Friday and followed up with 18 stops in a 4-1 victory against Brown. The pair of wins improved his record to 9-5 on the season which goes along with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.

In his lone BCHL season last year with the Vipers, the Anchorage, Alaska product recorded 19 wins and .915 save percentage. Shortridge’s recent work has the Bobcats sitting fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 13-8-1 mark. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound netminder sports a 1.74 goals-against average in conference play, the top mark in ECAC Hockey.
