Silverbacks grad Ebbett makes BC debut

Since leaving his home province to attend the University of Michigan after an impressive junior career with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Andrew Ebbett has been a lot of places.

He's made American Hockey League stops in Binghamton, Portland and Iowa and enjoyed his first NHL call-up with the Anaheim Ducks near the end of the 2007/08 regular season. And on Monday night, the 25-year old made his season debut close to home at General Motors Place against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Vernon, B.C. native has yielded 166 points in 173 AHL games over parts of three seasons. He was recalled after an injury to Teemu Selanne sidelined the star winger for four to six weeks, meaning that Ebbett may have the opportunity to make a lasting impression in the National Hockey League this time around.

In 2001/02, his final season of junior hockey, Ebbett excelled as a member of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. He scored 45 goals and added 39 assiststhat season, earning a scholarship to Michigan to play under legendary coach Red Berenson. In four seasons as a Wolverine, he notched 38 goals and 105 assists in 167 games.
