Silverbacks’ Zengerle named Player of the Week

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Mark Zengerle has been named the BC Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 8th, the league announced Monday.

Zengerle assisted on seven Silverbacks goals last week, extending his league lead in that category to nine. On Saturday, the 19-year old set up two late goals to lead Salmon Arm past the Eagles in a come-from-behind 3-2 win, earning first-star honours.

That win was just part of a prodctive bounce-back week for the Silverbacks, who completed a four-game Mainland Division road swing by picking up six points on consecutive wins in Burnaby, Surrey and Langley.

Zengerle now sits in a tie with Powell River Kings forward Darcy Oakes for the BCHL scoring lead with 90 points, which he has accumulated in just 49 games.

The Silverbacks return to the ice on Wednesday night when they host the Westside Warriors at the Sunwave Centre.
