Slubowski shuts the doors as Bulldogs top Surrey

Frank Slubowski stopped all 28 shots he saw and the trio of Warren Muir, Matt Hatch and Johnny Rogic combined for six points as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs pulled out a 3-0 victory over the Eagles in Surrey.

Hatch scored the lone goal of the first period, converting a feed from Rogic and beating Eagles starter Vinny Lessard at the 14:39 mark. Trent Dorais and Rogic each picked up a special teams marker in the second, with Dorais scoring shorthanded just 3:15 before Rogic tallied the Bulldogs' third goal of the night on the power play.

The Eagles mustered 12 shots on Slubowski in the third period, but couldn't beat the Alberni Valley starter. Slubowski's first star performance was keyed by some key saves that held Surrey to a 0-for-9 mark on the power play.

Lessard took the loss, turning aside 21 of 24 shots sent his way by the Bulldogs.

Alberni Valley is back in action on Saturday with a visit to Burnaby, while the Eagles have a day to rest up prior to a Sunday visit to Merritt.
