Chilliwack Chiefs forward Jake Smith has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 1 the league announced Monday.
Smith led the Chiefs to three-straight wins over division rival Wenatchee, including the first two wins for a visiting team in Wenatchee this season. Smith opened with an assist in a 5-3 home win over the Wild and followed that with a goal and two helpers for 1st Star in a 4-3 OT road win. Saving his best for last, the East Amherst, N.Y. native scored a hat trick plus an assist for another 1st Star in a 7-6 win over Wenatchee.
Smith’s eight points are his best three-game stretch of the season. He is now on a six-game point streak and has 14 points in that time.
