The Trail Smoke Eaters regretfully announce that, due to health reasons, Head Coach and General Manager Garry Van Hereweghe has announced his intention to resign from from his position.
Club president Dean Civitrese commented on the announcement.
“Obviously we are disappointed to lose someone of Garry’s caliber, but we respect his decision and are in agreement that his personal health has to come first. Garry’s done a great job here over the last year, both on and off the ice. It will be difficult to replace him.”
The Hockey Club will begin their search for a replacement immediately. Van Hereweghe will remain with the Smoke Eaters in his current role until a new Head Coach and General Manager.
