Smokies’ Clark commits to Iowa State

The Trail Smoke Eaters are pleased to announce that veteran defenceman Brandon Clark has committed to Iowa State University to play hockey for the ACHA Division I Cyclones this fall.

Clark scored eight goals and added 12 assists in 44 games with the Smoke Eaters last season while also serving as an assistant captain. He totalled 25 goals and 69 points in 221 BCHL regular season games split between Trail, Cowichan Valley and Surrey.

The 5-foot-10 blueliner will add strength and skill to an already outstanding Cyclones defensive core. Clark is planning to pursue a degree within Iowa State's College of Business.

Iowa State is coached by Dr. Alan Murdoch, who has the most wins in U.S. collegiate history with 947. The Cyclones are looking to improve on a record of 35-11-2 during the 2008/09 season. Iowa State is part of the Big XII Conference and is located in Armes, IA which is about 35 miles northeast of Des Moines.
