Sniper MacMillan counts his 17th as Bulldogs roll to 4-2 win in Burnaby

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs won their second consecutive game on their Lower Mainland road trip, jumping out to a three-goal lead over the Burnaby Express and holding on in a 4-2 victory.

BCHL goals leader Mitch MacMillan scored his 17th of the season just 2:23 into regulation to open the scoring, and the Bulldogs doubled their lead at the 7:12 mark of the frame on a power-play marker from David Dziurzynski.

Warren Muir scored the eventual game winner early in the second period on another man advantage, converting a feed from Johnny Rogic. The Express responded, however, picking up goals from Dylan Herold and Matt Ridley just 2:37 apart to make things interesting heading into the final 20 minutes.

Burnaby put nine shots on Frank Slubowski in the third period,  but couldn't beat the Alberni Valley starter for the tying goal. Trent Dorais finally put the game away with 31 seconds remaining in regulation with an empty net goal.

Slubowski made 26 saves in the win, while Burnaby's Nick Energren turned aside 25 shots in a losing effort.

The Bulldogs go looking for their third win in as many days when they visit the Langley Chiefs on Sunday, while the Express are idle until Friday when they travel to Westside to face the Warriors.
