Steele signs with Sacred Heart

Ryan Steele just got a little practice in something that should come in handy when he heads off to school for college hockey in 2018.

He was recently acquired by the West Kelowna Warriors in a deal with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs where he was the team’s captain and leading scorer. The exercise of moving should come in handy when he has to pack for college as he’s committed to play for Sacred Heart University starting next season.

Steele had already matched his offensive output from all of last season as he had seven goals and 21 assists for 28 points in 38 games with the Bulldogs. The native of Stratford, P.E.I. has 17 goals and 39 assists for 56 points in He’s yet to suit up for the Warriors but will be in the lineup this weekend when West Kelowna visits Wenatchee.

At Sacred Heart, Steele is joining a Pioneers program that competes in the NCAA’s Atlantic Hockey Association along with Bentley, Air Force, Army West Point, Holy Cross, RIT, Robert Morris, AIC, Mercyhurst, Canisius and Niagara.

Sacred Heart’s roster features BCHL alums Brett Magnus, Austin McIlmurray, Alex Bates, Jason Cotton, Marcus Joseph and Mike Lee.
