A key part of the Wenatchee Wild’s success this season will be heading to the other side of the continent in the fall.
Wild star forward Kyle Stephan will join the American International College (AIC) Yellow Jackets of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) in the coming season.
Stephan led the Wild in goals (24) and was third in team scoring with 46 points in 58 games. He’s added seven points through Wenatchee’s first four playoff games.
The native of Barrie, Ont., one of four Canadians permitted on the Wild roster, will join an AIC team that features BCHL alums Bryant Christian, Shawn McBride and Alex Murray.
Stephan is one of seven Wenatchee players that will join NCAA teams in 2016-17, joined by Matthew Baker, Troy Conzo, Mike Coyne, Brendan Harris, Chase Perry and August von Ungern.
The Yellow Jackets play in AHA, along with Air Force, Army West Point, Bentley, Canisius, Holy Cross, Mercyhurst, Niagara, Robert Morris, Rochester Inst. of Technology and Sacred Heart.
