Stevens earns opportunity at St. Lawrence

JakeStevensIn his final season of Junior hockey, Victoria Grizzlies defenceman Jake Stevens appears to have taken his game to new heights that will see him far surpass his totals from last year.

That early production has caught the eye of NCAA Div. I St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. and they’ve secured his services for the next four years. Stevens, a native of Naperville, Ill., committed to SLU last week.

Stevens has three goals and nine assists and has already put together a seven-game point streak this season. His production has him fourth in Grizz scoring and fifth overall among BCHL defencemen. This after a freshman BCHL campaign that saw him total six goals and 13 assists.

At SLU, Stevens will join a Saints program that currently features BCHL alums Jacob Pritchard, Ryan Lough, Ben Masella and Mitch Eden. Also committed to SLU for next season is Merritt Centennials forward Cade Gleekel.

The Saints compete in the NCAA’s ECAC Hockey conference against Quinnipiac, Clarkson, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Union, Harvard, RPI, Colgate, Cornell and Dartmouth.
