Stevenson named Subway Player of the Week

Coquitlam Express goalie Clay Stevenson has been named the Subway BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4.

Stevenson won all three of this starts last week, stopping 68 of the 70 shots he faced to finish with a .971 save percentage, a 0.68 goals-against average and one shutout.

On Tuesday, the Chilliwack, B.C. native stopped 28 of 29 shots in a 5-1 road victory over the Victoria Grizzlies. After getting the night off on Wednesday, he was back at it at home on Friday where he shutout the visiting West Kelowna Warriors 4-0, making 24 saves and earning first star in the process. He wrapped up his stellar week on Sunday afternoon, stopping 16 of 17 in a 4-1 win on the road against the Chilliwack Chiefs.

This is Stevenson’s first Player of the Week award after being an honourable mention four times this season.

The 20-year-old Dartmouth College commit now has a 13-2-0 record, tying him for most wins in the BCHL. He also sits second in the league with a .945 save percentage and a 1.40 goals-against average with two shutouts.
