Trail Smoke Eaters forward Evan Sundar, Brooks Bandits forward Nick Peluso and Spruce Grove Saints forward Keifer Miller have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.

1st Star – Evan Sundar (F) – Trail Smoke Eaters

Sundar led the league in scoring last week, picking up six points in two games, including a BCHL-best four goals.

The 2005-born forward did the majority of his damage on Friday night in a road tilt against the Blackfalds Bulldogs. Sundar finished with five points and his first career BCHL hat trick in an 11-0 Smokies win. After his team took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, the St. Albert, Alta. product scored twice and added an assist during a six-goal second period outburst that gave Trail an eight goal advantage. He added another goal and a helper in the third and was named first star of the game.

The following night against the Okotoks Oilers, Sundar scored his first shorthanded goal in the BCHL, giving the Smoke Eaters a brief lead in an eventual 4-2 defeat.

After his offensive outburst over the weekend, he is now tied for the team lead in scoring with 23 points in 24 games.

2nd Star – Nick Peluso (F) – Brooks Bandits

Peluso totaled five points in two games last week on a pair of goals and a trio of assists.

The University of Maine commit picked up three points in the Bandits 6-3 road win over the Vernon Vipers on Friday night. Peluso had a goal and an assist in the first period as Brooks jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, then he added another helper in the second.

On Saturday, the Bandits shutout the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-0 and the Rochester, N.Y. product earned his second straight multi-point outing with a goal and an assist, both on the power play.

Peluso is tied for sixth in league scoring and is part of a Bandits trio all near the top of the BCHL scoring list, alongside Nathan Free and Parker Lalonde.

3rd Star – Keifer Miller (F) – Spruce Grove Saints

Miller notched a BCHL best five assists last week, helping the Saints to a pair of wins.

The 19-year-old had a pair of helpers on Friday night in Spruce Grove’s 7-3 home win over the Okotoks Oilers. Both of Miller’s assists came in the first period and both were with the man advantage.

The following night, the College of the Holy Cross commit amassed three assists in a 6-5 overtime road win against the Blackfalds Bulldogs. Miller earned two of his helpers in the second period, then picked up the primary assist on the overtime winner.

Miller is Spruce Grove’s second leading scorer with 21 points in 24 games and is also the team leader in assists with 15.
