Surrey’s Tartaglione named Player of the Week

Surrey Eagles goaltender Tommy Tartaglione has been named the BC Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week of January 26th to February 1st, the league announced Monday.

In three starts last week, Tartaglione compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .949 save-percentage.

In two games — in Burnaby on Tuesday, January 27th and at home against Alberni Valley on Saturday, January 31st — the 20-year old was named the game's first star. Against the Bulldogs, he posted one of the season's top performances by a netminder, turning aside 50 shots and recording the shutout.

The Harbour City, California native currently boasts the league's third best save-percentage at .913 and sits fourth in wins with 21.

Tartaglione and the Eagles return to the ice on Tuesday when they visit the Westside Warriors.
