Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Jacob Terpstra, Penticton Vees defenceman Nolan Stevenson and Brooks Bandits forward Nathan Free have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Jacob Terpstra (F) – Alberni Valley Bulldogs
In three games last week, Terpstra led the league with five goals and tied for the BCHL lead with seven points.
His week was highlighted by a four-goal, one-assist performance on Saturday in the Bulldogs 7-4 win over the Powell River Kings. The goal and point totals were both career highs for Terpstra. The 2005-born forward also chipped in a goal and an assist over his other two games last week.
Terpstra is tied for second in Bulldogs team scoring with 35 points in 42 games and has the second most goals on the season with 17.
2nd Star – Nolan Stevenson (D) – Penticton Vees
Stevenson led all BCHL blueliners in scoring last week, tying for the overall league lead with seven points, all coming via assists.
After registering a single helper in Penticton’s 5-4 win over West Kelowna on Family Day last Monday, the 2005-born defender collected a trio of assists on Friday in a 4-3 overtime victory against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, then matched his output a night later with another three assists in a 4-2 win on Saturday in a rematch with West Kelowna.
Stevenson ranks fifth among all league defencemen with 34 points in 44 games.
3rd Star – Nathan Free (F) – Brooks Bandits
Free averaged two points per game last week, picking up six in three games on four goals and two assists.
The Calgary, Alta. native did the majority of his damage in the Bandits matchup with the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Family Day, piling up three goals and two assists in their 6-0 victory. This tied his best single-game BCHL point total and was the second time he has scored a hat trick this season. The 18-year-old also scored on a penalty shot in Brooks’ 7-1 win over the Vernon Vipers on Saturday.
Free is tied for fourth in league scoring with 57 points in 44 games, while his 28 goals also rank fourth in the BCHL.
