Unruh secures Ivy League future

Having already surpassed his rookie totals in goals, power-play goals and penalty minutes, Nick Unruh has shown the type of development you’d expect of a second-year BCHL player.

Project where he’ll be in two more seasons and it makes for an attractive college hockey recruit. That’s what Ivy League Dartmouth College has concluded as well and they’ve locked up Unruh for their 2020-21 season.

A native of Ft. McMurray, Alta., Unruh has 14 goals and 11 assists in 42 games so far to go along with 20 minutes in penalty minutes. He is slated to get one more BCHL season before heading off to the Hanover, New Hampshire campus.

At Dartmouth, Unruh will join a Big Green program that competes in the NCAA’s ECAC Hockey conference along with Quinnipiac, Yale, Cornell, Union, Harvard, Brown, Princeton, RPI, St. Lawrence, Colgate and Clarkson.

Currently, Dartmouth has five former BCHL players on their roster with Carl and Sam Hesler, Matt Baker, Quin Foreman and captain Kevan Kilistoff. There are four other current BCHL players committed to Dartmouth in Trail’s Diarmid DiMurro, Coquitlam’s Clay Stevenson and Jack Cameron and Langley’s Mark Gallant.
