Vanderbeck signs with Buckeyes

Though he’s seen limited action so far this season, AJ Vanderbeck has long since proven enough to secure a future in NCAA Div. I hockey.

Vanderbeck has committed to Ohio State University for the 2018-19 season. Despite having missed three weekends of BCHL play due to injury, Vanderbeck has posted five goals and three assists in six games. This comes after he racked up 39 goals and 27 assists a season ago, finishing second in BCHL goalscoring behind his Wenatchee teammate Charlie Combs

A native of Monument, Colo., Vanderbeck was handed the captaincy of the Wild this season being one of the top returning players from last season’s Boileau trophy-winning Wild club. Vanderbeck is the first BCHL player to commit to Ohio State since Craig Dalrymple, a Powell River Kings alum who has now graduated the Buckeyes program.

Ohio State competes in the Big 10 conference along with Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin.
