Vees begin new era at Events Centre

It's said that if you build it, they will come.

On Saturday, hockey fans in Penticton helped further prove that thesis, turning up to the tune of 4,485 in attendance and cheering the Vees to a 4-0 win over Westside at the brand new South Okanagan Events Centre.

The new building, which will house the city's Junior A franchise after decades at Penticton Memorial Arena, has a capacity of 5,200 for hockey games. And the Vees, who haven't lost in regulation time in 16 contests dating back to March, are likely to test that limit in their attempt to be the BC Hockey League's first repeat champion since the Surrey Eagles achieved the feat in 1998 and 1999.

The Vees' next home game at the South Okanagan Events Centre is on Friday, October 10th against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
