Vees earn win working overtime again

Taylor Sanheim’s goal in overtime delivered a 3-2 win for the Penticton Vees over the host Cobourg Cougars Monday night at the RBC Cup.

OFFICIAL BOXSCORE

It was the Vees’ other Taylor, Taylor Ward, that opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the game and it remained 1-0 Penticton until late in the second when Spencer Roberts tied the game on a play set up by former Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Quinn Syrydiuk.

Chris Klack put the Vees in front again with a goal early in the third but he was sent off for interference at 14:42 of the final frame and Cobourg got the equalizer from Brennan Roy at 16:43, just a second after his penalty had expired.

So for the second day in a row, the Vees went to OT but this time they came out on top as Sanheim notched the decisive tally at 6:29.

Penticton will have Tuesday off but will be back in action Wednesday against the Trenton Golden Hawks.
