Waddick, Compton, Jamaldinov named FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month

Spruce Grove Saints forward Declan Waddick, Powell River Kings forward Eliot Compton and West Kelowna Warriors forward Ruslan Jamaldinov have been named the FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month.

1st Star – Declan Waddick (F) – Spruce Grove Saints

Waddick tied for the league lead with 15 points in eight March games, closing out the final month of the regular season with seven goals and eight assists.

The Tilbury, Ont. native went on a tear when the calendar flipped to March, collecting at least a point in seven of eight contests and putting up multiple points in four games. His best stretch came when he had seven points over two games, starting with a two-goal, two-assist outing against the Trail Smoke Eaters, followed by a goal and two helpers against the West Kelowna Warriors. He also had the game-winner and another three points in a rematch against West Kelowna on the final weekend of the season.

Waddick finished his first BCHL campaign with the most goals on his team with 25 and the second most points with 52 in 49 contests.

2nd Star – Eliot Compton (F) – Powell River Kings

Compton scored eight goals and added seven assists for 15 points in nine games last month, tying for the league lead in both goals and points.

The 18-year-old forward had multi-point performances four times in March, including four points in a March 27 overtime win over the Coquitlam Express, three points in a March 21 game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals and another three points in a March 7 victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Two of his goals during the month came on the power play to give him a team-best nine on the season.

Compton finishes his season as the Kings leading scorer with 58 points, as well as the top goal scorer with 28.

3rd Star – Ruslan Jamaldinov (F) – West Kelowna Warriors

Jamaldinov piled up 15 goals in nine games in March on eight goals and seven assists.

The 2005-born forward had at least a point in seven of nine games during the month, highlighted by a season-best five points in a March 20 win over the Victoria Grizzlies where he scored twice and added a trio of helpers in a 9-1 victory. He closed out March with five points over the final two games of the regular season and four of his goals during the month came on the power play to give him 10 on the season.

Jamaldinov wraps up his first regular season in the BCHL tied for ninth in the league scoring race with 63 points in 53 contests and tied for 10th in goals with 28.
