Warriors’ pair earns scholarships to SAIT

General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Howell is pleased to announce that two former players have received scholarships for the 2009/10 season. Both Brady Mason and Brad Plumton have made commitments to suit up for the SAIT Trojans who play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).

Brady Mason played for the Warriors in 2007-08, after a 3 year career in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers and Everett Silvertips. Brady, from West Kelowna, was a reliable two-way forward during the teams second season, helping them to a second place finish and the conference finals.

“Brady was a key component to our organization taking a positive step in becoming a contending team in the BCHL. He was counted on in a variety of situations, and was instrumental on our penalty kill, as well as leading in the dressing room,” explained Howell.

Defenceman Brad Plumton played for the Warriors for all three seasons the team has been in the Westside. He was one of the team’s first recruits after Howell signed on to be the coach.

Brad was a fan favorite for all three seasons, playing a physical brand of hockey enjoyed by the fans, as well as being a great ambassador while in the community with the young kids. He was a strong two-way defenceman who stood up for his teammates and became a solid point producer in his last season.

“Brad was always a player who played hard for his teammates, and made life miserable for the opposition. He played the game efficiently and was counted on against the other teams best players. He put in the time to improve himself, which became apparent in his last season, where he was a key component to our power play,” commented Howell.

The Westside Warriors would like to congratulate both Brady and Brad, wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors, and thank them for their contributions to the organization.
