Witkowski commits to BU

After one season in the BCHL, Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Jake Witkowski will head back to his home state of Massachusetts for his college hockey career.

It was announced on June 20 that the 6-foot-3 forward will sport the red and white of the Boston University Terriers for the 2017-18 NCAA Div. I season. The Terriers compete in the Hockey East Association (HEA).

In his lone season with the Bulldogs, the product of Melrose, Mass. notched a team-high 23 goals to go along with 17 assists for 40 points. His point total was second on the team behind defenceman Trevor Cosgrove. Witkowski also led Alberni Valley with 10 power play goals and five game-winning tallies.

The 20-year old forward will join a Terriers squad that finished last season with an overall record of 21-15-4 and a total of 46 points. They made it to the second round of the NCAA playoffs after defeating North Dakota in overtime in their tournament opener.

Boston University plays in the HEA with Boston College, UMass Lowell, Notre Dame, Providence, Vermont, Merrimack, Northeastern, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

Witkowski will play alongside Nashville Predators prospect and Penticton Vees alum Dante Fabbro.
