‘Backs Morrison commits to attend Harvard

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks Junior A Hockey Club is pleased to announce that forward Conor Morrison has accepted an NCAA Division I scholarship to attend Ivy League school Harvard University for the 2009/10 season.

Conor will be the first ever SilverBack to attend Harvard.

A native of London, Ontario, Morrison is playing in his second season with the SilverBacks. The five-foot-eight, 155 lb. forward has exploded in his second season with the SilverBacks and currently leads the team in goals with 37. Conor has also 45 assists to date and is fourth in league scoring with 82 points in 48 games. Last year in his rookie season, Morrison had 26 points in 54 games.

Morrison suited up for Team Germany in both the World Junior A Challenge and the IIHF World Junior Championships earlier this year due to his dual citizenship. Being a part of theses elite rosters is a testament to Conor’s hockey talent.

“Conor is a very complete player,” commented head coach Rylan Ferster. “Not only does he have the goal scorer's touch but he is very responsible defensively as well. He is an extremely intelligent player that can play in any situation”

“It is my pleasure to congratulate Conor on his future scholastic career,” said team owner Randy Williams. “After spending the last two years with Conor, I have grown to know that he is a very committed and personable young man. Conor has been a valuable member of our organization and I wish him all the best in the future.”

The entire SilverBacks organization would like to congratulate Conor and his family on this great accomplishment. For further comments contact the Hockey Operations Office at 250-832-3856 ext 106.
