Nother heading to Bemidji State next season

Victoria Grizzlies forward Ethan Nother has committed to play for the Bemidji State Beavers for the 2018-19 season.

In his first season in the BCHL, Nother immediately made an offensive impact for the Grizzlies, finishing third on the team in scoring with 59 points in 58 games and leading the team in goals with 26. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound native of London, Ont. followed up his strong regular season with a solid playoffs as he finished tied for the team lead with 10 points in 12 postseason games in Victoria’s run to the Island Division final.

Bemidji plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) against Alabama Huntsville, Alaska Anchorage, Alaska, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Lake Superior State, Michigan Tech, Minnesota State and Northern Michigan.

The Beavers finished the 2017-18 season in fourth place in their conference and lost to Michigan Tech in the quarterfinals of the WCHA tournament.

This year’s Bemidji roster featured former BCHLers Brendan Harris, Charlie Combs, Connor Brown-Maloski and triplets Leo, Gerry and Myles Fitzgerald.

Nother will be joined next year by Penticton Vees captain Owen Sillinger, Trail Smoke Eaters forwards Ross Armour and Carter Jones and Nanaimo Clippers forward Brad Belisle.
