Salmon Arm’s Desmet going to Alabama

BCHL player Keenan Desmet of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks has accepted a NCAA Division 1 scholarship to the University of Alabama Huntsville.

Desmet is 20 years old and finished regular season play with 27 goals and 41 assissts totaling 68 points overall, ranking him third in team scoring and nineth in league scoring.

Originally from Strathmore, Alberta, the 5'11″ 170 lbs. forward started out his BCHL career in the 2006-2007 season, playing two seasons for the Victoria Grizzlies and was traded to the Silverbacks this off season.

“I've known Keenan for a number of years now and have had the pleasure of coaching him for two of the last three seasons,” said Silverbacks head coach Rylan Ferster.” He is a first-class player who works hard every night. Keenan is a great leader and role model for our youger players.”
