The Capitals defeat the Express 5-3

The Cowichan Valley Capitals' offense had a big night, peppering the Coquitlam Express with 39 shots throughout the game. The Cowichan Valley Capitals took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Ethan Scardina.

Ty Pochipinski delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Nii Noi Tetteh chipped in with 3 assists. Hunter Fraser did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Jake Brien had a productive game with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

In the first, Sanda opened the scoring for the Express with a goal at 2:52 with helpers from Brien and Fraser. Fraser put in a goal at 6:24 with helpers from his teammates Brien and Linell. Jackson finally put the Capitals on the board with a goal at 18:21 with assists from Drapeau and Pochipinski.

During the third, Jackson deposited a goal at 0:24 with helpers from Pochipinski and Tetteh. Pochipinski netted a goal at 2:26 with an assist from Jackson. Brien quickly followed with a goal at 4:09 with a helper from Newsome. Scardina answered for the Capitals with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 7:31 with assists from Tetteh and Broadhurst. Tinling deposited a goal at 13:44 with helpers from Tetteh and Jackson.

Cowichan Valley’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Marcoux’s big night as he stopped 37 of the 40 shots he faced. Marcoux’s counterpart, Stevenson, also had a big night, managing to stop 34 of 39, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Cowichan Valley Capitals’ record to (375-405-64-0).
