Vipers set to host Sweden’s U-17s

The Vernon Vipers are excited to announce that they will be playing the Sweden National Men's Under-17 team on Sunday, January 4th at 2:00 PM.

The event marks a great opportunity for the city of Vernon to see some world class talent and show its community spirit. Team Sweden consists of players up to age 17. Last year they played against all the Vancouver Island teams, winning three games and tying one.

Tickets will go on sale immediately and will be selling fast as last year’s games were near sellouts.

Players on Sweden National Team 17 over the last number of years include:

Henrik Sedin, Vancouver Canucks
Daniel Sedin, Vancouver Canucks
Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit Red Wings
Niklas Kronwall, Detroit Red Wings
Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers
Nicklas Backstrom, Washington Capitals.

These are just a few of current NHLers who have played on this team. At least five players on this current team have been targeted as future NHLers.

Team Sweden will be playing a three game tour through the Okanagan with the first game being played in Vernon. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see how our Vipers stack up against the world.

Tickets for the event will be $10 and $8 (For anyone under the age of 12).

While visiting the Okanagan, the Swedish Mens Under-17 team will also faceoff against Westside on January 6th and Salmon Arm on January 7th.
