For anyone that saw him in the BCHL, this was almost inevitable.
West Kelowna Warriors alumnus Max French has been named captain of the 2016-17 Bentley University hockey team. French, a native of West Kelowna, wore the ‘C’ for the Warriors in his final BCHL season in 2012-13.
An assistant captain last season, French will take over captain’s honours this coming season from former Nanaimo Clippers star Andrew Gladiuk, who graduated.
French will return for his senior season as the NCAA’s leading returning scorer in points per game after averaging 1.47 per contest, which was good to rank in a tie for third nationally. Overall, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward racked up 47 points on 23 goals and 24 assists. Within Atlantic Hockey, that ranked him third in both goals and points and eighth in assists. He was named first team All-Atlantic Hockey for his efforts.
Over four BCHL seasons, French played 193 games and accumulated 67 goals and 82 assists for 149 points.
